Enerjoy Case Study: An Evaluation of Thermal Comfort and Energy Consumption for the Enerjoy Radiant Panel study evaluated the thermal comfort and energy consumption of Enerjoy PeopleHeaters, a surface-mounted, ceiling radiant panel heating system, compared with a conventional forced-air system. The study compared air infiltration, installed system capacity, energy consumption, delivery of thermal comfort, and issues discussed by the literature review for both systems. Results showed that the Enerjoy product provided comparable levels of thermal comfort and substantial energy savings resulting from a combination of reduced parasitic losses, room zoning, quick recovery from setback, and lower ambient air temperature during recovery.
The NAHB Research Center selected the Enerjoy PeopleHeaters system for this case study under the auspices of the Advanced Housing Technology Program (AHTP) as a promising and innovative emerging technology that could contribute to great energy efficiency and productivity in housing.
