Building Integrated Photovoltaic Project in the 21st Century Townhouses case study evaluated a photovoltaic (PV) metal roofing module that was installed in one of the NAHB Research Center’s 21st Century Townhouses as part of the Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) project. The BIPV project supports the design, operation, monitoring, and assessment of BIPV through the Advanced Housing Technology Program (AHTP). The PV system featured photovoltaic cells integrated with metal roofing, and the balance-of-system electrical equipment included an inverter to convert DC power to utility-compatible AC power, battery storage, protective fusing and other basic electrical equipment.
