With the goal of achieving acceptance and integration of Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing products into the residential construction process, this report summarizes the attributes of BIPV roofs that are important to homebuyers, manufacturers, designers and installers and investigates how these members of the housing production chain relate to BIPV roofs. This report assumes that photovoltaic (PV) systems will have a major impact on the appearance, function and construction of the house’s roofing component. To commercialize PV systems on a massive scale, the industry must not only market to the homebuyer, but convince members of the housing production chain that PV installation is compatible with their respective interests and responsibilities in the construction process.
