The Quality of Concrete Costs a Little More - A Concrete Homes Technology Brief

August 2006

This Technology Brief covers the cost of Insulating Concrete Form construction. According to the brief, the cost of ICF homes, when built by experienced contractors, is only slightly more than that for conventional wood-frame construction. Additional costs for wall construction can be offset by the ability to use smaller HVAC equipment due to the higher energy efficiency of the wall system. The brief includes a tool to narrow cost estimates for ICF construction based on several factors.
