This consumer product safety alert produced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) evaluates the safety risks associated with spas, hot tubs and whirlpools. The CPSC has taken several steps to help prevent deaths and injuries in spas, hot tubs and whirlpools, including developing standards to prevent hair entanglement and body-part entrapment. This document includes additional CPSC recommendations for consumers, such as fixing old spas, hot tubs, and whirlpools with new, safer drain covers, and knowing how to locate the cutoff switch in an emergency.
