Window Selection - Modern Windows Provide Energy Savings, Durability, and Comfort fact sheet explains how proper window selection can provide energy savings, durability and comfort. The fact sheet includes information about modern windows, including design, selection and installation; an explanation of window properties, including U-factor, SHGC, air leakage, and VT; window specification guidelines; and window technologies that can improve the energy efficiency and performance of windows, such as the frame material, insulated glazing, spacers, low-emittance coatings, spectrally-selective coatings, inert gas fill, heat-absorbing (or tinted) glass and reflective glass.
