Objectives: |

- Verify overall performance of net-zero energy homes.
|
|
General Construction Information: |
The 99-lot infill development features energy and resource efficient homes, including two net-zero energy homes. Initial field data collected information on two of the single-family homes (House A and House B) in the development. |
|
Significant Results: |
-
The ICS solar water heater with tankless water heater back-up used one-third the energy of a tank-type water heate.
- 27 percent of the electricity used in House A was produced by solar power; 23 percent in House B.
- The first net-zero energy house total utility costs average $15-$20 a month.
