Natural Disaster Retrofit Improvements

Natural Disaster Retrofit Improvements

To improve disaster resistance in existing residential construction the NAHB Research Center, with support from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), identified construction retrofit methods for existing remodeling efforts throughout the country. As a result, the Research Center detailed 25 disaster resistant retrofit techniques that can be integrated into normal maintenance and repair work. The 25 one-pagers below each detail a retrofit improvement to make homes safer in disasters. They include information on the potential hazard, retrofit opportunity, purpose, benefits, and key steps.
