Duct Boot, Hanger, & Debris Cover All in One

Speeds installation and promotes IAQ

Speedi-Boot: A Vent Boot Hanger, Debris Cover, and Gasket in One AccessorySpeedi-Boot™ is an integrated metal fastening frame and duct boot complete with a foam gasket and construction debris cover, available as a pre-assembled one piece accessory for HVAC duct installation. Integrating all of these parts as one unit not only eliminates duct boot deformation -- it allows fastening duct outlets securely to the structure to reduce leakage at the supply registers or air return grills. The Speedi-Boot comes complete with a temporary cover that blocks debris and particulants from entering the duct system during construction, which promotes indoor air quality and qualifies for credits in green building rating systems.

The duct boot frame can be attached at floor, wall or ceiling members, dependent upon the design of the forced air distribution system. The duct boot is snapped into the frame and the ducting is then sealed with approved tape or mastic. The integral closed cell rubber gasket that surrounds the frame will create a tight seal against sheathing or gypsum surfaces which will not interfere with finish materials like tile or paneling. Hanger arms telescope to accommodate framing spacing up to 24 inches and the frames include attachment nails. Speedi-Boot is available in all standard duct boot sizes from 4-inch by 8-inch to 20-inch by 30-inch.

Speedi-Boot can also be ordered with the frame and boot pre-assembled.

Affordability

Pre-manufactured products can speed installation, saving labor time.

Environmental Performance

Gasket at interface with floor/wall/ceiling surface provides for tight contact to eliminate duct leakage or infiltration that could degrade air quality.

Quality and Durability

Sealed ducts can save energy and provide a more comfortable indoor environment.

Easy

Speedi-Boot consists of several duct accessories that would otherwise be put together in the field during the course of roughing-in the HVAC system. Installing this as one integral unit speeds on-site production.

Prices range from $5 and up dependent on purchase volume and size of the duct boot, as well as, whether or not the boot is included in the assembly. These prices are slightly higher than the costs that can be attributed to the individual components -- telescoping boot frame, dust cover and gasket -- however, these are expected to be offset by the labor savings.

Properly sealed HVAC ductwork can save energy and add to indoor air comfort and homogeneity.

The International Residential Code 2003 and 2006 requires forced air distribution systems to have sealed ducting.

None

The Speedi-Boot combines at least three accessories into one. Fewer parts are required for assembly on site, so installation takes less time than traditional system assembly. No new skills or tools are required by the trade person.

No warranty is provided.

Speedi-Boot brings together several disparate parts of a metal ducted air distribution system that would otherwise be assembled in the field. Consolidating these parts which include a gasket for air sealing at the register or grill interface and a dust cover to keep ducts clean during construction should save some labor time in the field and serve green building objectives.

As noted, there will be an increased first cost over the sum of the parts that is expected to be offset with the attendant labor savings.
