05/15/06: Pervious pavement & plumbing performance study

The pervious concrete alley was placed last week. Final plumbing is finished on eleven houses. Plumbing flow rate and temperature performance data for lots 2335, 2351 and 2365 was collected this week to compare PEX and copper supply water systems. Interior sensors for temperature and relative humidity were installed in eleven houses and exterior wall sensors were installed in two houses.

02/06/06:Roofing, siding, & second copper plumbing study

Eight houses along Vine Street and three houses on U Street are under roof. Siding has started on the first two houses. The second copper plumbing study took place this week.

12/01/05: Sensors and wall cavity detailing

Five homes are under roof and the three PEX installation time studies have been completed. Sensors and wall cavity detailing for the first four homes in the study of 16 homes have been installed.

10/24/05: Cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)

One of six planned studies comparing the installation time and cost of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) to copper pipe took place this week.

10/03/05: Ten foundations installed

Ten foundations have been installed. Framing of Lots 1 and 2 is underway. The foundation sill plate anchor hardware installation time and cost study has been completed.

8/12/05: Different types of hold-down hardware

Each of the four foundations was used as a stage for a different type of hold-down hardware or different seating/spacing devices for installing the hardware.


8/9/05: Concrete is being pumped into the first foundation

Foundations were formed of 6-inch thick concrete with #4 reinforcement bar placed vertically every 2 feet and horizontally at the top and bottom of the wall.

6/14/05: Groundbreaking Event

Groundbreaking event takes place in Lincoln, NE. Representatives from several agencies were on hand to announce the launch of construction for the Liberty Village community.
